Doswell E. Brooks- 3rd Grade and 5th or 6th grade
On the other hand, there was a growing group of those in the Colonies who were firmly convinced that revolution and freedom from English rule was in their best interest. Those people called themselves patriots. So whether you were a traitor or patriot depended on your point of view. How has point of view influenced how you or others see the world? "Bridging the Gap" by 5th Grade students at William Paca Elementary Bridging the Gap is about the conflict between control and freedom. 5th Grade students found the conflict of the American Revolution was relevant to our current conflicts of today's society. While the two canvas are meant to seen together as a whole tapestry they can also be seen as a diptych to demonstrate there is always two sides to a story. "A Cup of Piece" by 5th grade students at Doswell E. Brooks In creating A Cup of Peace, students looked at both sides of the American Revolution and picked a "side", patriots versus traitors. Students then related their own experiences with conflict to the side they chose in creating their own tapestry before creating a collaborative piece. The middle of the tapestry is demonstrating how conflict just "spills" out into taking sides but by working through each layer peace can grow. |
